Ecuadorian Coast Hotels

The long pristine beaches of Ecuador are mostly undetected and unexplored by foreigners. On one of the most beautiful beaches we built our bed & breakfast hotel, El Faro Escandinavo (The Scandinavian Lighthouse) in the small village of San Lorenzo.

Situated only 20 miles south of Manta it is easily accessed by air from Quito or Guayaquil and by road from Guayaquil.

Here you can enjoy sun, sand and sea in quiet luxury. The hotel is not open to non residents which offer you a thoroughly private ambience.

We offer eight separate bungalows with either double beds or twin beds. The rooms have split air condition, running hot water and a small roofed terrace. The bungalows are in a tropical garden, while the main building is directly on the sea front with a terrace leading onto the beach.

The main building contains social areas, bar and dining room. A large collection of classical music and a varied library are at your disposal. We provide internet service and cable TV.

By the pool you’ll find sun beds and pool towels provided free of charge.

Our “faro” has an observation platform on top, where you can watch whales during the season or simply enjoy a drink by sunset.

Faro Escandinavo is primarily a place to relax, but we can offer some exciting excursions and activities such as:

Walk in the San Lorenzo cloud forest to look for the mantled howler monkeys.
Visit the village of Pile, home to the best Panama hat weavers.
Visit the archeological site of Agua Blanca and Los Frailes beach on the Machalilla National Park.
Shopping excursion in the towns of Montecristi and Manta.
