Hacienda Description:

The Hacienda El Porvenir is situated in the Cotopaxi National Park. You are lodged in a comfortable, functional and beautiful house built with native materials in keeping with the colourful construction systems typical of the area that have been used since immemorial times. The inviting living room and dining room with their lit fireplaces warmly welcome you.

Accommodation:

The bedrooms, called "machais" after an old word alluding "páramo" caves, recall the huts built by highland Indians with their straw roofs and walls made of "estera" (the name given to a reed or cattail mat woven by the skilled hands of local craftsmen). Each bedroom can lodge two people, except the master bedroom where four people can sleep. These rooms share 4 bathrooms. There are also two superior double rooms with private bathrooms and 2 suites with fireplace and private bathroom.

The hacienda has a dining room, 3 living rooms each with a fireplace, a restaurant, a bar, a small shop, a camping place and self guided hikes.

A broad range of activities are available, from having lunch in the mud-walled and straw-roofed farmhouse, walking around the premises enjoying magnificent views while immersed in an awe-inspiring landscape, feeding the Norman calves, or resting in front of an inviting fireplace, all the way to spending several days making different tours.

It is possible to organize horseback rides up to the highest point in Rumiñahui's slopes over fields covered with straw along hidden trails and a dazzling landscape that encompasses several of our Andean volcanoes. Silence is pleasant in these surroundings among colourful rosemary, yellow, pink, and lilac basswood, and the eternal "chuquiragua." Several species of falcon, "guarros", "curiquingues", "quilicos", and perhaps a condor and its mate followed by their fledglings can be watched while they go out for a flight above the summit of the volcano.
