Detailed Itinerary:

Day 01: Arrival in Guayaquil
Today you will arrive in Ecuador’s biggest city - Guayaquil. Upon arrival you will be picked up from the airport and taken to the Hotel Oro Verde. -/-/-

Day 02: Galápagos cruise
In the morning you will be taken to the airport in order to fly to the Galapaogs Islands where you will start your cruise with the Seaman Catamaran. You will be accommodated in a Main Deck Cabin. B/L/D

Day 09: End of cruise – flight to Quito
Today your cruise on the Galapagos Islands ends. Take a last view back of the enchanted islands, a unique paradise that has cast you with a spell with its fantastic nature. You will fly to Ecuador’s capital – Quito. Upon arrival you will be taken to the Hotel Mercure Alameda. B

Day 10: Quito city tour and excursion to the equator
In the morning you visit the colonial old part of Quito, which was declared by the UNESCO as a world heritage site in 1978. You will get to experience the new section of the city in the north with its many parks and tall modern buildings and the Avenida Rio Amazonas as well as the Plazas Santo Domingo, Independencia and San Francisco which are in the colonial section in the South of the city. Due to its many historical architectural monuments the UNESCO declared the old part of town a world heritage site in 1978. From the Panecillo hill in the South of the old part of town, where the 43 m high monument of the Virgen of Quito stands, you have an impressing prospect. From here you have wonderful views over the red clay tile roves of the old part of town, the skyline of Quito in the North, as well as the surrounding Andean cordilleras range with its outstanding snow-covered mountain giants. Then you will drive approx. 25 km North of Quito to the Mitad del Mundo where the 30 m tall Monument will tell you of the French-Spanish geodetic expedition of 1736-1744, which determined the position of the equator under the direction of Charles de la Condamine. Here you can stand with one leg on the northern and with the other leg on the southern Hemisphere of the earth and visit the ethnographical museum inside of the monument. Furthermore you visit the Museo de Sol, where you will learn about the culture of the country and its history dating back to the Incas. Overnight at the Hotel Mercure Alameda. B/L/-

Day 11: Otavalo Indio Market
Today you plunge directly into the multicolored thriving on the famous Indio market of Otavalo, which takes place around the Plaza de Ponchos. The most beautiful and largest market is on Saturday and this you should not miss in any case. After an extensive visit of the colored market quarters for food, arts and crafts and all kinds of souvenirs we eat in a typical restaurant in Otavalo at noon. In addition you make a short stop at a beautiful lake district, which is the homeland of the Otavaleños. You visit the Cuicocha Lake, which is in an extinct volcano. After a visit to the city Cotacachi, which is famous for its leather works, you return to Quito. Overnight stay at the Hotel Mercure Alameda. B/L/D

Day 12: Cotopaxi National Park
In the morning you will go to the Cotopaxi National Park towards the south on the Pan-American Highway through the famous avenue of the volcanoes until the entrance of the National Park where you will drive to the lagoon Limpiopungo as well as the Inca ruins ‘El Salitre’ located in the highlands of the park. Here you have a spectacular view of the gigantic volcanic cone of Cotopaxi. In the afternoon it goes back to Quito to the hotel. B/L/D

Day 13: Transfer to the airport and further flight to Lima
According to your flight time you will be taken to the airport in Quito in order to fly to Lima. Arrival in Lima. You are picked up from the airport and brought in the Hotel El Condado, where a welcome cocktail and a short preliminary talk expect you. B/-/-

Day 14: Lima City tour
The morning is free. In the afternoon you will start a city tour of Lima. First you visit the old part of town of Lima, the most important objects of interest as well as beautiful examples of colonial architecture: The central place with the president palace, the basilica and the city hall. In addition you visit the San Francisco church, the cathedral and the catacombs. Afterwards you are going to visit the gold museum. The gold museum saves an astonishing and unique collection of gold ornaments of different pre-Spanish Andes cultures. You will see priceless articles and jewels, which were made by goldsmiths, whose works are seen in the whole world. Furthermore there are important materials from the Pre-Inca time are exhibited and a large and interesting collection of weapons from the whole world. Overnight at the Hotel El Condado. B/-/-

Day 15: Lima – CuscoLima – Cusco
In the morning you will be taken to the airport in Lima and fly to Cusco. Upon arrival you will be picked up and taken to the Hotel Picoaga. The rest of the morning is time for acclimatization. In the afternoon you will do a half day city tour of Cusco. You will visit the important sites in Cusco like the Main Square, the cathedral, the church Santo Domingo and the temple Korikancha as well as the surrounding archaeological sites of Sacsayhuman, Kenko, Puca Pucara and Tambomachay. Day 16: Cusco - Urubamba
In the morning you are picked up from the hotel. You will spend this day in the Sacred Valley of the Inca, in order to visit the terraces of Moray an old agricultural center and a holy place and the salt mines of Maras. Continuing into the valley you reach the Ollantaytambo Fortress. Overnight at the Posada del Inca Yucay Hotel. B/L/-/

Day 17: Ollantaytambo - Machu Picchu - Inca ruins
The day starts with an early morning rise and transfer to Ollanta station to take the train, for a ride of approximately an hour and haf hour journey to the famous Inca Citadel of Machu Picchu, also known as "The Lost City of the Incas", one of the best known examples of surviving Inca architecture. At a distance of 120 km (75 miles) from Cusco, in the valley of the Urubamba River, Machu Picchu lies within the spectacular framework provided by the exuberant vegetation of nearby jungle and the rugged landscape. The site is situated on the eastern slope of Machu Picchu in two different areas: the agricultural and the urban ones. Lunch at Machu Picchu Sanctuary Lodge Restaurant. Overnight at Machu Picchu Pueblo Hotel. B/L/D

Day 18: Machu Picchu – Cusco
In the morning you have free time to explore Machu Picchu on your own. Second entry and bus round trip are included. Of course it is also possible to take part in an excursion offered exclusively to the guests of the Inkaterra Machu Picchu Hotel. Lunch in a restaurant. In the afternoon you will return by Vistadome to Cusco. Upon arrival you will be picked up and taken to the Picoaga Hotel. B/L/-

Day 19: Cusco – Puno
Transfer to the railway station for a spectacular train ride through the Altiplano. Trips to Puno leave only Mondays, Wednesdays and on Saturdays. Another possibility is to drive by bus to Puno. That is not only faster, but also much more comfortable and you can make a stop at archaeologically interesting places for a short excursion. At Puno (3,827 meters) you arrive late in the afternoon. Transfer to the Hotel Posada del Inca. B/L/-

Day 20: Puno – Islands Taquile - Puno
In the morning you will be picked up and taken to the Titicaca Lake, where you start today’s excursion. The first goal you have, are the swimming islands from the Uros. This island is built from Totora reed. One speaks of the fact that the today's inhabitants descend from the oldest peoples of South America. You will continue the motorboat trip to Taquile Island inhabited by Quechua speaking natives who hae developed efficient and unique social systems as well as fine hand weaving techniques down through generations. Evening arrival to Puno. B/L/-

Day 21: Puno – Juliaca - Lima
Transfer to the Juliaca’s airport for the return flight to Lima. On the way you will visit the Sillustani Necropolis consists of cylindrical graves, which are 10 to 13 meters high and strategically thought-out situated on the bank of the Lago Umayo, a place of outstanding beauty. Archaeological studies resulted in that these graves were established with the order to burry there the members of the higher social class of the Collas - an Aymara group from the Pre-Inca time. Their architectural forms are contrary to all rules of the statics, since the graves have a narrower diameter down at the soil, as above. Arrival in Lima and assistance for international flight.
