The hacienda is only a few kilometres away from the colonial part of Quito. It was built around 1730 beginning with a manor house and then leading to a large estate. The Hacienda Chillo-Jijón has always been a residence to the same family.
Built by the Marquees of Miraflores and enlarged a century later by the Marquees of San José, the hacienda has seen a lot of the country's history happen amongst its walls. For over 120 years, until 1975, the hacienda was also home to one of the largest and oldest textile mills in the Andes.
Today the hacienda warmly greets -in the superb style of its own tradition- a limited number of guests who want the difference of the most personal attention. It is the preferred lodging choice to visit the Colonial Quito and its vicinity with its baroque churches and its museums, the Indian Markets, the Andean region and its mountain villages, and more.
