The Rumiloma Lodge is overlooking the city of Quito. It is situated a bit outside of the center of Quito on the slopes of the Pichincha Volcano. You will need about 30 minutes to the airport.

This charming hacienda is situated in nearly one hundred acres of primary Andean forest on the side of the Volcano Pichincha. The hacienda backs up to thousands of acres of national park land with scores of trails, a small river, and llamas grazing peacefully. In the grounds of the hacienda is a wide variety of native birds and wildlife. There are several cozy sitting rooms perfect for relaxing after a hike in the surrounding hills, or enjoying a drink after dinner while looking out over the lights of the city and to the Amazon jungle beyond.

Oswaldo is one of the country’s top mountain guides by profession, so perhaps his love of mountains played a part in why he and his Irish-American wife, Amber, chose the spot. Amber is an interior decorator and amateur chef, with an imaginative, flamboyant and fun streak which is evident throughout the establishment they have created in Quito.

Hotels Accommodation:

The exceptionally appointed suites scattered around the hacienda are amongst the finest in the country. Each casita, or little house, boasts a minimum of 600 sq. feet. All are filled with a unique mix of antiques, art and collectables from the far corners of Ecuador. The guest rooms are the epitome of rustic luxury- pot bellied stoves, colonial art fluffy down covers, & spectacular bath rooms all housed within hand crafted walls of adobe and stone made and/or mined here on the property. All have cozy sitting rooms, spacious bedrooms and terraces or indoor gardens, and of course, the best views anywhere in Quito.

The restaurant, which serves an eclectic array of dishes, conjured with Ecuadorian ingredients but with an international twist, takes full advantage of the views down towards the city framed between the mountains, whose lights twinkle romantically at night. The décor is equally eclectic, ranging from Ecuadorian antiques to a grand piano, from crystal chandeliers to rustic chic tables and benches. Above this restaurant lies a further intimate function room (so intimate it has a bed!), and below extends a fully-fledged Irish pub with roaring hearth, jukebox, bar, model railway, darts, and yes, bottles of Bushmills and Jamesons, and about the only Guinness one can find this far from Dublin.
In the cellar you will find about 200 bottles of best quality wines from Argentina, Chile, Spain and Italia. The hacienda has also a convention center for about 20 people.
