The diving sites of the Galápagos islands belong to the best of South America and even the whole world. You can dive in the Pacific Ocean among seaturtles, hammerhead sharks, manta rays, moraines, sealions, penguins and with a little bit of luck even dolphins and wales. Every dive is guided by well-trained and experienced dive master guides and instructors. Our Hotel Based diving tours include two inmersions per day in the nearest Islands from Santa Cruz.
Itinerary:
Day 01: Arrival in Quito
Arrival in Quito. Transfer to the Hotel Dann Carlton or Rio Amazonas International. -/-/-
Day 02: Flight Quito - Galapagos / Transfer to Pto. Ayora, Hotel Silberstein
Transfer to the airport and flight to the Galapagos-Baltra Airport. 15-minute bus ride with public transportation to Itabaca Channel between Baltra and Santa Cruz. We will need 15 minutes to cross the channel in a ferry. After that we will board a chartered bus and ride 30 minutes to a rustic restaurant in the highlands of Santa Cruz. Fine home style cooking in a country setting with a view of the island's slope to the sea. After lunch we will go to the Hotel Silberstein to check in, rest and fresh up, and then walk to the Charles Darwin Research Station to see the visitor centre and giant tortoises. Day 03: Free day in Pto. Ayora, Hotel Silberstein
Free day in Pto. Ayora. You can visit the highlands of Santa Cruz, or enjoy the Tortuga Bay beach. Accommodation at Hotel Silberstein. B/-/-
Day 04: Two Dives at Academy Bay / Punta Estrada
After breakfast we test our dive equipment at Academy Bay. First dive at around 09:00 at Punta Estrada. We may see schooling fish, white tip reef sharks, reef fish, rays, turtles, and maybe marine iguanas. After the first dive the boat remains in sheltered water for rest or snorkelling. The second dive is at Caamaño Island, which are two miles from the hotel. Dive with playful juvenile sea lions. We may see turtles, large reef fish, sharks, groupers, amberjacks, coral, sometimes a scorpion fish. Return to hotel for lunch at capricho restaurant. In the afternoon you and your guide will visit the Turtle Bay. Overnight stay hotel Silberstein. B/L/-
Day 05: Two Dives at Santa Fe Island
After breakfast in the hotel we will depart from Galapagos Sub-Aqua centre for Santa Fe Island. Around 09:30 first dive at Santa Fe, which offers wall dives, rock reefs, shallow caves, and fantastic scenery. Santa Fe usually has clear calm water. May dive with sea lions, schooling fish, pelagic fish, moray eels, rays, and Galápagos sharks. Like everywhere in Galápagos, you can expect the unexpected. Rest interval between dives is an hour, so the second dive ends around midday. We will have box lunch here, before returning to Santa Cruz. Hotel Silberstein. B/L/-
Day 06: Two Dives at Floreana: Champion Island; Devils Crown - Hostal Wittmer
After breakfast we depart at 8:30 to the Floreana Island, which is about 3 -hours drives. The first dive will be at Champion Island and the second at Devils Crown. These and other islets offer the possibility to dive with reef fish, schooling fish, sea lions, invertebrates, rays, moray eels, white tip reef sharks, turtles, big fish including amberjacks, red snapper, and grouper.
Sometimes we see giant mantas, hammerheads, Galápagos sharks, whales, seahorses, and the bizarre red-lipped batfish. Lunch will be on board. In the afternoon we will arrive to Pto. Velasco Ibarra with transfer to the Hostal Wittmer. In the afternoon it is possible to visit the highlands of the Floreana Island. Later we will return to the Hostal for Dinner and Accommodation. Day 07: Two Dives at Punta Ayora/ Enderby Islands - Hotel Silberstein
Breakfast at 07:30 and after that departure on the "Sub - Aqua" boat for another day of diving at Punta Ayora and Enderby Islands. Lunch Box on board. Afternoon return to Pto. Ayora and later transfer to Silberstein. B/L/-
Day 08: Two Dives at Gordon Rocks / Seymour North
After Breakfast departure on board of the" Sub-Aqua" dive Boat for Gordon Rocks and North Seymour. Here we may see: Sea lions, reef fish, hammerhead sharks, giant manta rays, white tip reef sharks, invertebrates. Occasionally whale sharks, humpback whale, and porpoise. Lunch on board the dive Boat; transfer to Itabaca channel and from here by bus to Pto Ayora Transfer to the Hotel Silberstein. B/L/-
Day 09: Two Dives at Cousins Rock / Bartolome
Breakfast at 07:30 Hotel Silberstein. At 08:00 departure by bus from Pto. Ayora to Itabaca Channel. From there by dive boat to Cousins Rock and in between the first and second dive we snorkel at the Bartolome Island to look for penguins. After lunch we make our second dive at Bartolome: today will be able to see: reef fish, amberjacks, snappers, barracudas, white tip reef sharks, octopus, morays. Big pelagic fish could include Wahoo. Boat transfer to Itabaca channel and from here by bus to Pto. Ayora. Transfer to the Hotel Silberstein accommodation. B/L/-
Day 10: Two Dives at Daphne Menor/Seymour/Mosquera Rocks, Gordon Rock
Breakfast at 07:30 Hotel Silberstein. We travel by bus to Itabaca channel. From here we will go on the "Sub-Aqua" dive Boat for the first dive. We will navigate to Daphne Menor, Seymour or Mosquera rocks. The second dive will be at Gordon Rocks which is a wall dive with a very deep bottom. Usually there is strong current, making this a drift dive along the wall. Not recommended for novices. Gordon Rocks is world famous for diving with schools of hammerhead sharks. There might also be reef fish, amberjacks, snappers, barracudas, white tip reef sharks, turtles, invertebrates, rays, octopus, and morays. Big pelagic fish could include Wahoo, tuna, and even sailfish. Sometimes there are mantas, porpoise, whales and Galápagos sharks. Lunch Box on board and return to Pto. Ayora. Later on transfer to the Hotel Silberstein for accommodation. B/L/-
Day 11: Transfer to Baltra - Flight Back to Quito
After breakfast our guide will pick you up for the transfer to Baltra. Flight back to Quito. Transfer to the Hotel in Quito. Dinner not included. B/L/-
