MAIN DECK
On the Main Deck there is the engine room, one cabin for the crew, the galley, the dinning area and two cabins. Next to the dinning room is one social toilet. Also on both side we have the open sun deck areas.
MIDDLE DECK
On the Middle Deck are 10 cabins for the guest and one cabin for the crew.
SUN DECK
On the Sun Deck there is the covered spacious bar, three cabins for the guests and the bridge. Here as well is one social toilet
CABINS
All the cabins are panelled in wood and have private bathrooms. Each bed has underneath two storage parts, four drawers and counts with two pillows, a synthetic cover and a bed light, as well a small cupboard for the cloth. Each cabin is equipped with an air condition system with individual controls to adjust air temperature and air flow. Furthermore, they have two 110V and one 220V electrical outlets, and each bathroom has one 110V outlet next to the mirror. All cabins have an own private bathroom with a toilet, a sink and a shower with hot and cold water.
2 JUNIOR SUITES C1, C3
This small suites have an average size of 95 square feet.
Both have a queen size bed of 54” x 79” and a small desk with a chair.
4 JUNIOR SUITES C2, C13 – C15
These suites have an average size of 104 square feet.
All have a queen size bed of 54” x 79”, a single bed of 27” x 79” and a small desk with a chair.
8 DOUBLE CABINS C4 – C11
These cabins have an average size of 68 square feet and two single beds of 27” x 79”.
1 SINGLE CABIN C12
This cabin has a size of 42 square feet and a single bed of 27” x 79”.
DINING ROOM
The dining room on the Main Deck is panelled in wood and has a social toilet. The tables are for 2 – 6 guests. Here you can find a small library and a television set with DVD and a Stereo with CD and MP3. The Dining room as well counts with an air condition system.
SUN DECK
The covered Sun Deck measures 480 square feet. On the side are rolled up transparent plastic curtains which can get closed in rainy weather. On the covered sundeck there are sofas, small tables and chairs waiting for you. On the same level there is a social toilet.
BAR
The bar is situated on the Sun Deck. The bar is open over the lunch and siesta time, while navigating and throughout the evening. Soft drinks, wine, local beer, and cocktails, are available for sale. The bar tender will open an account for you which you can pay in cash. It is not possible to pay with credit cards.
BEVERAGE STATION
There is a self-service beverage station in the dining room and on the bar with coffee, tea and water.
BINOCULARS
There are not binoculars onboard available for guest use.
BRIDGE
The ship has an "Open Bridge" policy and guests are welcome on the bridge. Please note that there may be times when the bridge is restricted to shipboard personnel during vessel manoeuvrings or due to security restrictions.
CANOE
A motorized canoe accompanies the boat all the time. On board are carried paddle canoes for guests to be able to explore the oxbow lakes.
COMMUNICATION SYSTEM
The yacht has a furuno marine HF radio and is three times a day in contact with the administrator in Puerto Francisco de Orellana. It has an automatic emergency button to get in contact with all the ports and boats close by.
CREW AREA
Areas that are for the crew only (i.e. restricted work areas and living quarters) are clearly posted.
DAILY PROGRAM
Each evening your guide will explain you the program for the next day’s activities in a short briefing.
GARBAGE
They separate the ship’s garbage in to vegetal garbage, recyclable garbage and non recyclable garbage. Please do not throw garbage into your toilet or into the river.
GRATUITY AND TIPS
Tipping of the crew is a personal matter and left entirely to your discretion. Your guide will give you two envelopes, one for the whole crew and one for the naturalist guide. A guideline for gratuities is USD 10 - 15 per guest per day on board of the yacht. All tips are divided equally among the crew.
HAIR DRYERS
The Jungle Discovery doesn’t supply hairdryers.
HOUSE KEEPING
The cabin steward makes up the rooms between breakfast and lunch, while you are on an excursion.
LIFE JACKETS
SOLAS proved life jackets are provided in each cabin under the bed. Their use will be shown on the security briefing on the first evening on board. Every time to change to a motorized canoe you will get provided a transfer life jacket
MAIL
There is a mail service on board. You can buy post cards and stamps on board. Every time the boat arrives in a town with mail services they will deposit the mail in the mail office or bring it twice a week to Puerto Francisco de Orellana.
MEDICAL SERVICE
There is no ship’s doctor on board. A first aid kit is located on the bridge. Please ask your guide if you need any medication. We recommend bringing your own medical supply, especially your daily medication.
MENU
The Jungle Discovery offers a buffet three times a day with a variety of local and international dishes. If you have any special requests please advise us in advance or your guide on board. On the first and last day of your cruise we serve only plate service.
NATIVE GUIDE
On all the excursions a native indigenous guide will accompany you and explain you the flora and fauna of the specific area. The bilingual naturalist guide will translate and give you further explanations about the complex rainforest system.
ROOM SERVICE
Room service is only available in the case of illness or injury.
SMOKING
The dining room and the cabins are designed as non-smoking areas. Smoking is possible on the Sundeck and the open deck on the Main Deck.
Itinerary
Day 1: Quito – Coca - Aguarico
You take the domestic flight from Quito to Coca with ICARO airline at 7.30am. Transfer from the airport to Puerto Gregorio on the Aguarico river shore by private transport, arriving at 12:30. After a delicious lunch, you will take a motor canoe down river and reach at about 16:00 the Yacht Jungle Discovery, waiting for you on the confluence of the Cuyabeno and Aguarico rivers. Navigating the Aguarico down river on board you can enjoy the view of the Amazon rainforest until you reach the entrance of the Zábalo River at about 18:30. Upon arriving you go on a true night adventure expedition to observe caimans. Afterwards you will have a welcome cocktail and dinner on board and the guide explains the next day’s program. -/L/D
Day 2: Zabalo River
Breakfast at 06:00. At 07:30 you start navigating Zábalo River upstream by motor canoe for about one hour. On the way you have the possibility to observe the fascinating wildlife of the Cofán reservation, like macaws, parrots, toucans and by chance as well monkeys. You will then go on a walk through the virgin forest accompanied by a Cofán native guide who explains the flora and fauna as well as the use of their medicinal plants. After returning to the yacht you have lunch and time to relax. In the afternoon you will go for piranha sport fishing. At 20:00 dinner and briefing of the next day. B/L/D
Day 3: Cofan Community
Breakfast at 07:00, followed by a walk through the forest along the Zábalo River. The Cofán guide will again show and explain the biodiversity of the Cuyabeno Wildlife Reserve. Lunch at noon on board. In the afternoon you visit the Cofán Community of Zábalo, about half an hour the Aguarico down river. You will take part in the cultural activities of the community like Casabe preparing (yuca bread), their typical food and also the preparing of Yoco (a natural beverage). You also learn how to extract the chambira fibre out of a palm leave. This fibre is used for hammocks and bags. You will also have the opportunity to visit their turtle reproduction centre and to buy their handicrafts. In the late afternoon you will return with the Jungle Discovery up river to the entrance of the Cuyabeno River. After dinner you have the possibility to go on a night walk looking for insects, amphibians and other animals. B/L/D
Day 4: Black Water River – Kichwa family
Very early morning you will go on a hike to observe birds. After the breakfast you will navigate by motor canoe to the Black Water River, habitat of the pink river dolphins. You go on a longer walk through the forest together with a Kichwa native guide. In the afternoon you will visit a Kichwa family whose culture differs to the one of the Cofán and you have time for sport fishing. Dinner and Farewell cocktail. B/L/D
Day 5: Return to Coca – flight to Quito
Breakfast at 06:00. You will go on a walk along the Cuyabeno River. At 11:00 you will set out back for Puerto Gregorio. On the way you enjoy a box lunch on a beach. Transfer back to the airport on Coca where you take the domestic flight to Quito at 17:30 with ICARO airlines. B/L/-
