Hacienda Description:

The Hacienda Pinsaqui is situated at the base of Imbabura Volcano, just off the Panamerican Highway, about 5 km north of the world-famous Otavalo market and only 2 hours from Quito. It is located in the heart of Ecuador's Lake District. The hacienda is rich of centuries of history and invites you to become part of its magic, romance and legends.

The colonial hacienda was built in 1790, originally a textile workshop, employing at one time 1000 local weavers and spinners. Many of the Pinsaquí fabrics were exported to the United States in the late 1800's where they first received international recognition.

Over the centuries Pinsaquí has hosted numerous illustrious guests including General Simon Bolivar, the revered liberator of Ecuador, who often spent the night at the hacienda on his trips to and from Bogota, Colombia. During this time the historic "Treaty of Pinsaqui", a peace agreement between Colombia and Ecuador, was signed within Pinsaqui´s walls.

Nowadays the hacienda retains the character and authenticity of its earlier times, making for a unique tourist experience. This one of a kind hacienda is perfect for outdoor enthusiasts, travelers looking to relax, antique collectors, families, and more.

Accommodation:

The hacienda has 20 rooms with a fireplace. Each room is unique and has a character all of its own. Within the rooms you will find sheepskin rugs, heavy blankets and pieces of traditional art. Most rooms have a view overlooking the lovely gardens behind the hacienda. Some rooms have a Jacuzzi.

Services & Facilities:

The hacienda has a historical chapel, a restaurant with Ecuadorian and International cuisine, a 200 year old garden with pond and roaming llamas and a terrace snack bar. Furthermore they can organize tours like:
