The colonial Hotel Plaza Grande is about 30 minutes from Quito's Mariscal Sucre International Airport, in the heart of the historic district of the city. The hotel faces Quito's central square and is surrounded by characteristic buildings: the Metropolitan Cathedral, the Carondelet Palace (Government Palace), the Archbishop's Palace and the modern City Hall.

The Hotel Plaza Grande is located in what was originally the home of Juan Díaz de Hidalgo, one of the Spanish conquerors who founded the city of Quito at the beginning of the sixteenth century. He was later appointed Quito's first judge. His mansion later became one of Quito's first hotels.

The hotel offers 15 suites including Royal, Plaza and Presidential Suite. All suites are equipped with furniture from the Spanish colonial era. They are fully air-conditioned and elegantly appointed.
