Detailed Itinerary:
Day 01: Arrival in La Paz
Today you will arrive in La Paz in Bolivia at an altitude of 3,500 m. You will be picked up from the airport and taken to the selected hotel. The rest of the day is free for acclimatisation. -/-/-
Day 02: La Paz - Copacabana - Sun Island
Early in the morning you will be taken to Copacabana Sanctuary where you will board the Catamaran Cruise Ship. A snack is served while you are sailing to Sun Island, the legendary birthplace of the Inca Empire. Here you will visit the Inca Garden, steps and fountain and afterwards the Inti Wata Cultural Complex including the Ekako Underground Museum, the traditional medicine and the Titikaka Reed Shipbuilders display centers, the Pachamama agricultural Inca terraces, a handicraft center, the Intica lounge and at the Manco Kapac look out the largest variety of Andean camelids. The Inti Wata Complex at Sun Island includes a unique sailing experience aboard a huge Titikaka Traditional vessel for a panoramic visit to the Pilkokaina Inca Palace. You will have buffet lunch on board, then you will be return by land transfer to La Paz city. B/L/-
Day 03: La Paz – Sucre
According to your flight time you will be taken to the airport in La Paz for your flight to Sucre. Upon arrival you will be picked up and taken to the hotel. After a break you will do a half day city tour of Sucre. You will visit the House of Freedom Historical Museum; the Convent of La Recoleta Museum and its viewpoint; the facades of the churches of San Lazaro and Santo Domingo; the main historical monuments and Bolivar Park. Optional Visit: Textile Asur Museum or the Convent of San Felipe de Nery. B
Day 04: Sucre - Potosi
Today you will drive from Sucre to Potosí with guided assistance. This trip takes about 3,5 hours. Then you will do a half day city tour. You will visit the most important and interesting places of the city, which was declared Universal Heritage of Mankind by UNESCO. You will visit San Lorenzo Church where you will appreciate its beautiful façade, Casa de la Moneda Museum, the exterior of the Tower of Company, the exterior of the Arch of Cobija and the artisans market in the colonial area of the city. Day 05: Potosi - Colchani
In the morning you will visit a private mine on the Cerro Rico, currently managed by the miners who bought it from the State. You will be able to see the miners performing their job in rudimentary form and in similar conditions as those of the Spanish Colony. Then you will depart in private transport towards the town of Colchani, located in the shores of the Uyuni Salt Flat. On route you will visit the Pulacayo mine. Box lunch. Accommodation at the Salt Hotel, dinner and overnight stay. B/L/D
Day 06: Uyuni Salt Flat – Train to Oruro
Breakfast. Departure to visit the Uyuni Salt Flat and Incahuasi Island, this island is located in the heart of the salt flat and is the greatest of a group that represents an isolated ecosystem. The island is populated with a cacti species that measures up to 12 meters high, adding the background provided by the salt flat the panorama becomes impressive. The trip continues towards Coquesa village, where you will have lunch and ascend Tunupa Volcano to visit the Coquesa Mummies. In the afternoon return to Uyuni. Accommodation at a hotel and at midnight transfer to the train station to board the train to Oruro. B/L/-
Day 07: Oruro – La Paz
Arrival to Oruro in the morning and transfer to the bus station to board a regular bus to La Paz. Arrival and transfer to the hotel. Then you will do a half day city tour of La Paz. Visit the famous Witch Doctor's Market and San Francisco Colonial Church. The tour continues to Plaza Murillo where the Cathedral, the Government Palace and the National Congress buildings are located. Then, you will visit the famous colonial street Jaen where interesting museums are clustered together, followed by a visit to the replica of the semi-subterranean temple of the Tiwanaku Culture. To change scenery the tour continues to the residential areas of Obrajes, Calacoto and La Florida. The tour ends with a visit to the unique Moon Valley, where you will have the opportunity to walk around, and visit a ceramic workshop with a demonstration of the art of pottery.
Day 08: international flight
According to your flight time you will be taken to the international airport in La Paz. B
