

Itinerary:
Day 01: Santiago - Calama - San Pedro
Flight from Santiago de Chile to Calama. We fetch you at the airport in Calama and drive to San Pedro. In the afternoon we will enjoy the beautiful moon landscape at the Valley of the Moon (valle de la luna). Return to San Pedro. Hotel. -/-/-
Day 02: Trekking to the Puritama hot springs - Inca ruins
Easy trekking (8 km) to the hot springs of Puritama. We will move trough a deep rock Canyon, which the Puritama River flows through. The source has a temperature of 39° C. During the trek we will see several ruins, which are at least 2,500 years old. After 3 hours we arrive at the thermal bath. Here we will relax for a little bit. Afterwards we return to San Pedro. In the afternoon we will visit several Inca ruins, which lie not far away from San Pedro. (Quitor, Catarpe and Tulor, old villages that lie buried under the desert sand). B/-/-
Day 03: San Pedro - Miscanti & Meñique lagoons
We start early from San Pedro and drive along the large Atacama salt level (the largest of Chile). After one hour we arrive in the village Toconao. We will walk through its streets and get to know the typical architecture of this area. The houses were built from volcanic rock. We visit some of the beautiful Petroglyphen and finally arrive (after 2 hours) at the charming lagoons Miscanti and Meñique. These lie at an altitude of 4,200 meters. Camp. B/L/D
Day 04: Miscanti & Meñique lagoons - Lejia lagoon
We continue our route to visit the Aguas calientes, its valleys and Laco salt plains. We reach now a height of 4500 meters. Against the evening we arrive at the foot of the volcano Lascar (5600 m). Here the Lejia lagoon lies. Camp. B/L/D
Day 05: Lejia lagoon - Volcano Lascar - San Pedro
After 3-5 hours we reach the large crater of the active volcano Lascar. The crater is 1 km broad and 350 m deep. Large smoke columns get out of it. The view is impressing with the many volcanoes surrounding us! Return to San Pedro. Hotel. B/L/-

Day 06: San Pedro - Tara salt plains
Today we visit the still unexplored Tara salt plains. It is at an altitude of 4,400 meters and is a singular ecological system with the fauna, which is typical for it. In addition one can admire here very interesting geological formations: Rock needles and large walls. In this salt plain there are also small lagoons, at which we will observe flamingos, ducks and geese. Camp. B/L/D
Day 07: Tare salt level - El Tatio geysers
From tare we return to the Atacama salt level. We continue our way to the Tatio geysers (4,300 m). There we will arrive in the afternoon and will have still time for short walks and perhaps also around a thermal bath to take. Camp. B/L/D
Day 08: El Tatio Geysers - Caspana - Ayquina - Chiu - Calama - Santiago
The best time of day to be able to admire the geysers in their full beauty is short before and/or after sunrise. We will learn something about geology and the origin of this special place. From here we continue our drive to the small villages Caspana, Ayquina and Chiu Chiu. These villages are inside large ravines and are mainly populated by the Aymara tribe. Against 19:00 we arrive at Calama, from where out we fly to Santiago. B/L/-
