With my best greetings and desires I am informing you today on the pleasant news that from now on the Travel Agency SURTREK in Ecuador will take charge of all the matters related with the enrollment and the travel for the participation in our "Shamanic Seminaries for Cure and Self-Realization” in South America. I do not want to hide my satisfaction of having found finally two serious contracting parties to facilitate for you the relevant information and to help you in all the technical difficulties involved in a transatlantic journey.
Allow me in this new opportunity to familiarize you with the nature of our Seminaries. To tell the truth, the proven history of Shamanism through the millennia is already notorious. Archaeological, ethnological and anthropological investigations verified this without leaving any doubt. Which – on the other hand – will the duration of the modern scientific or formal medicine be, that comparatively is only a baby of some few centuries, whose brief history distinguishes itself by a game of advances and theories more and more accelerated and chancy and ever newer and modern “last" data of the reality of life?
Certainly, for the same reason it is easy to understand that the ancestral wisdom of Shamanic Medicine would not really have to justify itself before the priority pretensions of this scientific baby, because Shamanic Medicine qualifies above all by a deep and true respect for life. The rational natural sciences cannot demand easily this ethical quality without any opposition. All those gigantic nuclear, chemical, biological and high tech destruction means that are filling the arsenals of the militaries more than ever today, do evidence very clearly about what we are talking here. Because the threat of an apocalyptic self-destruction of the whole humanity represents unquestionably – apart from the undoubtedly also existent blessings of our scientific era – the acquisition of much bigger weight of the natural sciences.
In advance, I would like to remind you of the particular circumstances that should be taken into account at the cure and teaching with Shamanic Medicine, which constitutes a system of knowledge and practices focused basically on the medicinal alteration of the therapist's consciousness and perception and – given the case – also of the patient. In the specialized anthropological literature, this modification of the consciousness and perception is denominated as "Shamanic Ecstasy of Consciousness"
The main objective of our Seminaries consequently consists of the shared awakening and living experience of this "Shamanic Ecstasy of Consciousness", because with it also takes place simultaneously the awakening of our inherent and natural healing potency ("The Doctor Within"). For this, we make use of the shamanic methods transmitted since immemorial times as a universal strategy of the whole humanity for the acquisition of personal and collective knowledge, strength and health. The South American lineage of Indian Shamanism distinguishes itself mainly of an imposing abundance of very extraordinary healing plants. Among them we also find the particularly called "Sacred Power Plants", as for example the San Pedro cactus (botanical name: Trichocereus Pacchanoi) of the Andean mountains and – among many others – the Ayahuasca vine (botanical name: Banisteriopsis Caapi) of the tropical forests of the Amazon basin. To them we owe the activation and energetic transformation of our lucid every day’s consciousness and of our accustomed and daily sensorial perception into the "Shamanic Ecstasy of Consciousness", which is indispensable for the shamanic cure. Because through waking up that latent "Doctor Within" in the deepest (archetypal or transpersonal) layers of our sub consciousness, simultaneously takes place a rectifying reprogramming of the not well driven vital impulses and a liberating transformation of blocked vital energy patterns.
Due to the awakening of our dormant capacities and to the reactivation of our natural, original and sensitive communication and interaction with the energies of Nature and the Creator's Divine Spirit – frequently already lost since a long time, disharmonies of health can be treated at their very active roots (of the subtle energy body). The lack of happiness and of the reason of living (in serious depressions or addictive illnesses), inexplicable anguishes (frequently due to traumatic experiences in the past of the life), sick features of the personality (as paranoiac or passionate habits), equally as disorders of the organic functions and degenerative illnesses can become healed definitely.
Due to the millennial tradition of Shamanism, where the world of the vision and the faith still represented the unquestionable way for cure, we will also experience, in this inner awakening, the domination of the limiting shackles of our thoughts and our mental understanding. Thus, we begin to discover the marvels of an indescribable, mystic and wholesome perception of the reality.
Never confuse Shamanic Medicine with the doubtful practices and the black magic of the witchdoctors, sorcerers, occultists, impostors and swindlers, for it, in fact, represents the inherited wisdom of our ancestors of humanity, directed toward the ingenious activation of our internal healing potential.
However, I should still advance a thing: Anyone who wants to discover the mystic phenomena of the shamanic cure has to be willing, from the very beginning, to abandon attitudes of intellectual or scientific arrogance. Try, with an open heart, to understand yourself as a student that goes learning in a very new way, if you want to reach the access to those secrets of the life, which Shamanic Medicine can provide.

Unfortunately, men and women, without number in our modern industrial societies, have forgotten that they are children of our Mother Earth and that their health and true happiness depend indispensably on the lived harmony with the created powers of the Nature as well as with the laws of the Great and Almighty Creative Spirit that acts in her. Even the public institutions of health of the formal medicine are not very aware that this represents a basic prerequisite for the restoration of the corporal and spiritual health of every one.
Consequently, we book it as a great success of our Travel Agency to have found inside the mark of our ecological goals the Austrian scientist's collaboration, Dr. Heinz Valentine Hampejs, for the realization of "Shamanic Seminaries for Cure and Self-Realization" in South America. Dr. Hampejs is a M.D. in General Medicine, Neurology and Psychiatry and is devoted as an officially recognized Shaman for more than 25 years to the investigation, the practice and the teaching of the North and South American Shamanism. In 1991, with the writing of the scientific monograph "The Shamanic Ecstasy of the Consciousness" ("The Secret Keys of Shamanism"), the Ministry of Public Health of Ecuador granted him the official recognition as expert for Indian Shamanism. The author gladly offers the German textual version of this book free of charge, since he presents in this investigation the essential, scientifically irrefutable arguments for the revaluation and the recognition of the efficiency of the shamanic cure that could contribute an unexpected enrichment – necessary since already a long time ago – to the orthodox methods of the modern, formal medicine. We are totally aware that the phenomenon "Shamanism", falling progressively since already some decades in the footlights of the public media, has become a topic in fashion and precisely for that reason also a problematic and contradictory topic for a lot of people. In our days, numerous chatterers, pseudo-shamans, businesspersons and writers of sensationalist articles, attracted in certain way like moths by these footlights, poison the nectar of the wisdom of the Shamanic Medicine taken care of for millennia.
For obvious reasons, it is very impossible for the nonprofessional to be able to separate in this field the straw from the wheat, since there is little wheat (authentic shamans), a lot of straw and still much more nonprofessionals with frequently adventurous, subjective and speculative views on Shamanism. However, we should not allow becoming victims of the erroneous opinion that there is no wheat, because the field had begun to cover entirely with weeds. For that reason, we are sincerely glad to have found with Dr. Hampejs an authentic wisdom holder of Indian Shamanism.
Shaman Rituals in Ecuador - 16 Day Program
Itinerary:
Day 01: Arrival in Quito - City Tour
When you arrive in Quito, the capital of Ecuador at 2.800 m of height, we await you at the airport and take you to the Swissotel in the modern center of the city. After a short rest, you will be able to obtain some first impressions of the variety and history of the capital during a sightseeing tour. From the modern northern part of the city with her many parks and the main road "Avenida Amazonas”, you go to the Squares "Santo Domingo", "Plaza de la Independencia" and "San Francisco" in the colonial, southern part of the city. For its many architectural monuments, in 1978 the old city was declared cultural patrimony of humanity. In the south of the old city, from the hill of the "Panecillo", with its monument "Virgen de Quito" of 43 m of height, one has an impressive panorama over the red roofs of the old city. On the horizon, you see the silhouette of the modern neighborhoods of the north and the surrounding mountain ranges of the Andes with their prominent snowy giants. At night, after the city tour, you will talk about all the details of your imminent trip at a welcome cocktail in the hotel. -/-/-
Day 02: The journey from Quito to the jungle
Starting from Quito, you will cross the mountainous earth of the Andes on the Pan-American Highway. The German discoverer Alexander von Humboldt called it Highway of the Volcanoes, because it is surrounded by gigantic mountains and volcanoes like the Pasochoa, the Rumiñahui, the Illiniza and the Cotopaxi. You will pass by the cities Latacunga and Ambato to arrive at the small indigenous town of Salasaca. Here, Indians live from their traditional agriculture and their well-known manual crafts, mainly knitted works. After a brief tour of the town, you will continue the trip toward Baños (1800m) at the foot of the volcano Tungurahua. This small town with its beautiful location has a very pleasant subtropical climate and is famous for its basilica and its pools of thermal waters. From there you will go toward the east along the river Pastaza. You will see many cascades until your arrival in Puyo, a jungle town, in which you will stop to visit "Omaere", an ethno botanic reservation. Next, you will travel 40 more kilometers toward the east to the "Cabañas - Las Cascadas", where you will have a snack and spend the night. B/L/D
Day 03: First Ritual
This day, you prepare for your first ritual, fasting on herbal teas and fruit juices without sugar. In the appropriate moment, you will meet at the place, where you carry out the ritual. You are explained all the necessary things there and you can obtain additional explanations you wish to clarify. (Fast)
Day 04-05: Rest and hikes
You will need these days to relax and to meditate about what you experienced during the ritual. There are also possibilities to go for a walk through the charming surroundings. B/L/D
Day 06: Second Ritual (Fast)
Day 07-08: Rest and hikes
Also these days, you will need a rest. Take the opportunity to relax on the terrace of the cabin or lean back in the hammock, enjoying the silence that surrounds you and disconnecting inwardly of the bustle of the world. Nevertheless, perhaps you will prefer to go for a walk on the marked ways, exploring the environs or walking to the near town, where the natives continue living in a simple and traditional way. B/L/D
Day 09: Third Ritual (Fast)

Again, it will be good for you to rest and to assimilate the experience. B/L/D
Day 11: An unforgettable walk through the forest
This day will begin with an opulent breakfast. A great variety of exotic fruits will underline the nature and atmosphere of the environment. Next, a guide of the region will show you the waterfalls "Las Cascadas", providing you much information on the fauna and the flora of this virgin nature. With some luck, you will be able to see hummingbirds, parrots, armadillos or a sloth. After a refreshing bath in the natural pool at the foot of the cascade, you will take your snack in this singular atmosphere under the open sky. After this walk for the forest, you will relax during the rest of the afternoon in the hammocks of the cabins and enjoy a tropical cocktail. This day will finish around a romantic fire. B/L/D
Day 12: Fourth (last) Ritual (Fast)
Day 13: Rest and hikes
You will have to rest again and to assimilate the experiences lived during the night. B/L/D
Day 14: Rest and evaluation meeting
In a familiar meeting with Dr. Hampejs, you will be able to ask all the questions that could still exist. You also prepare for the return trip the following day. B/L/D
Day 15: Return travel to Quito
Having said goodbye to this beautiful paradise of the nature in full forest, you leave northwards to the city of Tena. You will visit the Amazon Park which is in a peninsula in the fork of the Rio Napo and of the Rio Tena Rivers. From there you will continue the trip towards the occident in the direction of the Andes. Passing through the small town of Baeza, you will leave the jungle until arriving, always-winning height, at the village of Papallacta at 3.800 m. There, in the oriental slopes of the mountain range, you will interrupt for a last time the trip in order to benefit from the opportunity of relaxing in the hot thermal baths of the place. Following the transoceanic highway, you finally return to Quito and move to the Swissotel. B/L/-
Day 16: Return flight back home
– Or perhaps annex a tourist program? For example, an additional week at the Galapagos Islands? After your last day in Quito, we will bring you to the airport and will say goodbye until our next encounter!

General information of participation:
On principle, all people with serious desires for health or self-realization are cordially welcome, inclusive children, supposing that the parents or custody persons hand us over a declaration of written conformity. Since the attendants must integrate themselves equally in the healing work, they are also subject to the participation conditions. Shamanic Medicine facilitates in an almost incomparable way the cure of many illnesses, which are incurable for the Allopathic Medicine and inclusive for most of alternative healing methods. In function of the graveness and the precedent duration of chronic health dysfunctions, the duration of the cure could ascend until at least three weeks, in the event of addictive illnesses until minimum four weeks. In order to achieve a special agreement for the realization of an individual or a minimum group’s program outside of the previously programmed periods, sick persons that want to appeal to the Shamanic Cure or those, who look for advancing on the path of spiritual self-realization, can direct their consultation directly to DR. HAMPEJS.
Things to bring along:
Light shirts of short and long sleeves, long and short light pants (no jeans), comfortable shoes, sandals, your bathing-dress, hat or cap, sun glasses, flash-light, insect repellent, sun protection cream, 1-2 plastic bags, binoculars, a camera with flash, tape recorder, light backpack.
We recommend you to arrive at Quito at least two days prior to the beginning of the seminary, in order to be able to rest properly from the fatigues of the transatlantic flight and the postponement of the time.
