Tourism is an activity that is gradually growing around the world -- including in Ecuador. At the same time, the gas emissions that cause the greenhouse effect are significant and a growing concern. In order to confront this problem, in 2009, Surtrek Tour Operator implemented a policy of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) along with its partner Vitalideas Cia. Ltda. This alliance has allowed us to become part of the Verification Program of the Rainforest Alliance, which promotes best practices of sustainable tourism in the areas of corporate, socio-cultural and environmental management.

Additionally, a Surtrek facility --  Las Cascadas Jungle Lodge -- has earned the Smart Voyager Certification every year since 2009 as a sustainable accommodations site in Latin America. While staying at the lodge, our clients participate in conservation projects, reforestation of the cloud forest, and community support initiatives -- which means that you too can be a part of this unique experience.

In addition to all this, we are the first tour operator in South America to participate in the Network of Tour Operators Promoting Sustainability (TOPS), which is organized by the Rainforest Alliance to promote strategic global relations in the tourism industry.
