But it is the natural history of Tinalandia that has made it famous around the world. Numerous biologists, writers and nature enthusiasts have visited them over the years, and have raved about the natural wonders of the reserve - its bird life being the most famed.

Tinalandia is close to Santo Domingo del los Colorados and is situated in the Reserve of Tinalandia.

The 16 rooms, each with its own unique style, accommodate 41 guests and give Tinalandia an aristocratic character and charm. Designed in the 1950's, Tinalandia offers a perfect synthesis of nature and civilization - amazing views, clean rooms, private bathrooms with hot water showers, and 24-hour electricity (supplemented by the owner´s own hydro-electric system) make this natural reserve as modern and comfortable as it is natural. Tinalandia has two main lodging facilities: on the lower bank is the reception area and dining hall; the other on the upper bank hosts the main guest rooms and a recreation hall.

Services & Facilities:

800 acres of primary rainforest make Tinalandia and its surroundings a wonderful place to experience the jungle. However, Tinalandia is more than just birds. The cloud forest is of interest to biologists and hikers, and one of the world’s few remaining moss forests is within hiking distance. They can arrange horseback riding and whitewater rafting trips. Tinalandia has guides on hand for hiking, horseback riding or bird watching, if advance notice is given. They have also a swimming pool where you can relax after an exciting day.
