Tour 7 days – 6 nights

Timbuyacu-Churuloma-Yanachoca-Piñan

Itinerary:

Day 01: Otavalo - Cotacachi - Cuicocha - La Banda
At 9 AM we pick you up from your hotel in Quito. We start our tour visiting the famous city of Otavalo, where we will do some shopping at the biggest Indian market of Latin America. Then we will visit the leather market of Cotacachi and the beautiful volcanic lake Cuicocha. Once we get hungry we will have our lunch at a typical restaurant of Atuntaqui. After this delicious lunch we will arrive to Hacienda La Banda, where we will distribute the rooms and have a walk around the Hacienda. At dusk we will visit and have a relaxing swim at the hot springs of Chachimbiro, famous from its healing powers. Welcome dinner.

Day 02: Irugunchu - Timbuyacu - Magnet Waterfall
After breakfast, we will start our trekking through the former Inca Trail towards Timbuyacu, where we will install our tents. After lunch we will visit and have a dive at the Magnet waterfall, famous for its revitalizing strength. In the evening we will return to the campsite and enjoy from a swim in the thermal water pools in front of our tents.

Day 03: Pisangacho – Churuloma
In the morning we will walk towards Churuloma passing through Pisangacho, where we will be able to observe many plants and animals, and notice how the climate and the vegetation begin to change drastically. In the evening we will camp and learn a bit about the history of the place.

Day 04: Polylepis Andean Forest - Yanacocha Lake
Today we will continue our path towards Yanacocha. During the trip we will pass and admire a big Polylepis Andean forest. In Yanacocha we will share the afternoon with the community, which has been hardly influenced by the outside world. We will enjoy from a natural tea (great for altitude sickness) and then camp in order to prepare for the next day.

Day 05: Piñán community and lake
On this day we reach our destination, Piñán. Here we will visit the community and enjoy from the magnificent scenery of this lake, which is one of the largest, most beautiful, and still pretty unknown to the Ecuadorians. On the road we will have the opportunity to see a great variety of birds of prey and if we are lucky maybe some condors. Dinner and camping.

Day 06: San Francisco - Chachimbiro - La Banda
After breakfast we will return on horseback towards the main facilities of Hacienda La Banda. On our way back we will stop at the hot springs of Chachimbiro, as a reward for the effort done. After dinner, as a farewell, we will enjoy together from the salsa and the merengue in the Latin Night.
