Horseback Riding Tropical Trail - 3 Day Tour

 
 

The Tropical Trail is a famouse Horseback riding tour, this excursion will show the riders the beautiful country side and rural areas of Ecuador. In these 3 day tour, you will ride from Pululagua crater to the north passing haciendas and deep valleys to Rumicucho Pre-Inca ruins

Itinerary:
Day 01: (5,5 hours)
From Quito we will drive to the Green Horse Ranch. We will have a guided horseback riding tour around the Cerro Pondona and we go to the Chaupisacha-Reservoir via Laharfelder. We will ride through mountain-cloud forest and deep canyons until we get to the small Rio Blanco valley. The warm climate in this valley allows coffee, sugar cane and bananas to grow. We will spend the night in the farmhouse Aguacatal which is a quite remote and very cozy farm. -/L/D

Day 02: (6,0 hours)
From high up in the mountains we will have a view over the valley from Rio Guayllabamba which we will follow upstream to the Hacienda Tanlagua and even further to our camp which is close to the Inca ruins of Rumicucho at the equator. B/L/D

Day 03 (4,5 hours)
We will make an excursion to the ruins of Rumicucho. Through hidden paths we will ride back on our horses to the dense forest of the Pululahua-crater. Return to Quito. B/L/-


Price 2008:
USD 395.- per person
Minimum 2 People.

The following is included in the price:
All transfers in the private vehicle, meals according to the program, horses that will be available according to the traveller's experience and requests, guide for the horse trips and equipment for riding, overnight stays as mentioned above.
All parts of the tour can be changed according to the group's interests, budget and time frame. It is also possible to extend or to shorten the tour. Please inform us about your requests when booking the tour.

The tours have been designed for 2-8 people who have a bit of previous riding experiences and are physically in good shape. While travelling it might sometimes be necessary to walk by foot in order to pass difficult parts of the tour. Travellers on this tour should not exceed 85 kg of body weight.

Equipment:
We will travel through different climate zones and after the sun has gone down the temperatures will fall tremendously. Therefore you need to bring light as well as warm clothes. During the day it is best to wear light clothes with long sleeves, which will protect you from the sun and bugs. A sweatshirt, a pullover or a fleece-jacket is recommended for the evenings and nights. Furthermore a jacket made of gore-tex or some other waterproof clothes, a hat with a wide brim, sport shoes and possibly riding boots are needed. You will get rubber boots from us. They are much better for short walks than riding boots. Please remember to bring insect repellent, sunscreen, sunglasses, camera, water bottle, flashlight and a sleeping back.

If you like to use a hard hat, please bring yours with you !!
