Detailed Itinerary:
Day 1: Cañón del Salto Canopy Tour
You will be picked up by tourist transportation and accompanied by a bilingual guide from Quito you will head south to the Hacienda Santa Rita where you will find one of the nicest attractions in the region - The Salto Canopy Tour. El Cañon del Salto Canopy is a transportation system based on harnesses and pulleys attached to an inclined cable, taking advantage of gravity. This system was used by scientists who were doing research in the forest canopy. They avoided coming down to the ground and climbing up the next tree by using this system. El Cañón del Salto Canopy Tour is a safe way to enjoy high mountain forest from the upper part. This is an environmentally low-impact adventure; it gives you with few or no climbing techniques knowledge to live an exciting experience. This lasts about 3 hours, then you will go to Hacienda El Porvenir for lunch. The afternoon is to relax or go on a walk in the surrounding of the hacienda. Dinner and lodging. -/L/D

Day 2: Horseback Riding and Hiking
After breakfast a brief lesson is given in the morning at Hacienda El Porvenir to teach you how to ride and get acquainted with the horses. Wearing the typical “Chagra” attire, you will begin a visit to the foothills of Rumiñahui Volcano. The native guides will share their knowledge of medical plants with you. The ride takes about 3 hours. Afterwards a delicious lunch of local dishes awaits you at the farmhouse. In the afternoon you hike to Manto Blanco waterfall. Dinner and lodging. B/L/D

Day 3: Cotopaxi National Park
After breakfast you will travel 20 minutes until Cotopaxi National Park, then you will visit the Interpretation Center where descriptions of the local flora and fauna as well as the history of the major eruptions of the world’s highest active volcano are provided. From the parking lot, you will begin going uphill to the refuge (4.800 m). Back in the parking lot, you continue on to Limpiopungo Lake. During the exciting journey you can admire streams and large rocks where volcanic remains are still evident. You pass inca ruins of the Pucará del Salitre which was in former times a strategic military fortress of the Inca Empire. From here you have a great view of surrounding mountains. We will serve a delicious box lunch. In the afternoon you will return to the farmhouse in Hacienda El Porvenir and come back to Quito. B/L/-
