AM/PM: Leaving your hotel in Quito in the morning, you will reach the Las Cascadas Lodge in the late afternoon or early evening.
AM: We will start the day with a breakfast consisting of the local fruits that underline the exoticism of the surroundings. Afterwards, we will hike to the beautiful waterfalls of Las Cascadas. The local guide, who will accompany you, will inform you about the plants and wildlife found in this pristine region, and, if you are lucky, you may see hummingbirds, bats, frogs and possibly armadillos. Take your swimwear because you’re sure to have a chance to take a dip in the natural pools below the falls.
PM: Later, we will visit a local community, where we will lunch and learn something about their projects. You will also have the option of participating in a replanting program aimed at preventing deforestation. When we return to the lodge, you can relax in a hammock on the veranda and possibly enjoy a well-deserved tropical cocktail. In the evening we will end the day around a blazing campfire.
AM: After breakfast, you will head out on your return trip to Quito or onward.
