Lodge Description:
The high-quality, individual cabanas of Sani Lodge are both comfortable and ethically run. With thatched roofs, en suite bathrooms and individual terraces, these spacious cabins offer all you could need while in the jungle. They are, moreover, also run as part of a community co-operative, meaning that not only are most of the staff and guides members of the indigenous community, but any money raised by the lodge is channeled back into social and environmental projects. This means you can enjoy your time here not just because of the fantastic facilities, prime location and excellent excursions, but also be in the knowledge that you are contributing directly to the health of the rainforest and its people. Anyone looking for a slightly more “back to basics” stay in the jungle, though still within touch of Sani’s main facilities (around an hour away), you can pitch a tent on one of the raised wooden platforms dotted throughout the wider site. With the Central Lodge, and the camping ground situated in the middle of untouched jungle, there is an abundance of plant life and native fauna at every turn, including monkeys, caiman, sloths, and no end of colorful bird species, so enjoy one of the many nature trails surrounding Sani during the day, before being called to a local dinner by the sound of a Bamboo Horn at night!
“I found Surtrek online as it proved to be an excellent, efficient company. Our 4 days in the Galapagos were expertly planned and we were never left without a guide - we were even walked to dinner each night and assisted with ordering!”
