The Amazon rainforest constitutes over 1/2 of the planet’s remaining rainforest, with the Amazon River serving as the life-force of this amazing ecosystem. Allowing adventurous travelers to fully discover this unparalleled biodiversity for themselves, March of 2009 saw the launching of the Delfin II expedition cruise vessel. And while this ship can take you on an unforgettable jungle adventure, it simultaneously offers all the comforts of world-class lodging and the spirit of refined elegance.
The 120-foot-long vessel is designed to accommodate a maximum of 30 guests. The ship’s 14 large guest suites include 4 Master Suites with 180° panoramic windows, and 10 standard suites – 4 of which can be interconnected to accommodate families. All of the suites have movie-screen-sized windows and natural elements, and in each of these wood-paneled cabins, you can expect 100% 280-thread Peruvian cotton sheets and bedspreads, orthopedic mattresses, silent air-conditioning, the most wonderful views and en-suite bathrooms with large showers.
The vessel’s social areas include an enclosed lounge (also air-conditioned), a generously sized dining room, a spa, gym, an open-air observation deck and a small boutique. In the ship’s dining room, you will discover why Peruvian cuisine is considered one of the world’s finest, and you will come to understand how it reflects the country’s intrinsic cultural diversity. This dining room, like the other social areas, is an ideal gathering place for guests.
On off-ship excursions into the Amazon rainforest from the Delfin II, you will experience an ideal combination of natural wonders, dramatic scenery, indigenous cultural history, and a relaxed and self-contained way to explore the Amazon – all while sightseeing nature at its best. You will go on daily searches for the Amazon’s rare birdlife and mammals, and explore the tributaries that feed these rivers onboard 10-person skiffs that feature individual seats with cushions and plenty of legroom. The ship’s local naturalists, who are experts in spotting wildlife, will join you in the skiffs, though you can also go kayaking for a quieter way to explore remote, seldom-visited side waters.
The vessel’s standards are high. Once you travel on board the Delfin II, your expectations will be forever changed. The 20-member staff on the Delfin II — many of them native Amazonians — are experienced and trained professionals as well as charming travel companions. you are sure to be provided with personal and undivided attention.
Regularly accommodating 28 passengers, Delfin II has 14 large guest suites. Among these are four master suites with 180-degree panoramic windows, and ten suites (four of which can be interconnected to accommodate families). Each wood-paneled cabin provides all the comforts of world-class suites, yet preserves the spirit of casual and refined elegance. Expect 100 % 280-thread Peruvian cotton sheets and bedspreads, orthopedic mattresses, all cotton towels & bathrobes, the finest organic amenities, silent air conditioning units, the most wonderful views and individual reading lights creating the epitome of calming luxury and enjoyment. Bathrooms include a large shower, separate toilet and sink area.
