Detailed Itinerary

Day 1
Arrival at Awasi Patagonia Lodge – Grey Beach Tour

AM: After arriving at the airport in the southern Chilean city of Puerto Natales, your guide will meet you and drive you to the Awasi Patagonia Lodge; this scenic 60km drive takes approximately 2-3 hours. After checking in, you will have lunch there at the lodge and have time to rest up.

PM: Following a hearty Patagonia lunch, you can choose to go on a hike where you can enjoy the song of local birds as you stroll through an enchanted forest of Lenga trees down to Grey Beach. As you approach, you will be amazed by the majestic icebergs that have floated down from the nearby Grey glacier, swept along by the strong winds characteristic of the area. From there, you can continue walking until you find yourself facing the peninsula and appreciate the view of the glacier. …a great introduction to the magic of Patagonia.

Day 3
Windy Peaks Hike – Cleopatra´s Needles Horseback Riding

AM: This morning you and your personal guide can go on a hike up the steep Windy Peaks slope to the top of this mountain chain, where you will be amply rewarded by the panoramic view of a vast part of the Torres del Paine National Park. Weather permitting, you will be able to see most of the high peaks, most notably Cerro Balmaceda, Paine Grande, Los Cuernos and Almirante Nieto. You will then head due south, walking along the different peaks, and then descend at Quebrada de la Feria, an old path once used by cattle ranchers.

PM: This afternoon, you might select Cleopatra´s Needles as the destination of your second horseback riding excursion. Named by Lady Florence Dixie, the first tourist to visit the area, the “Cleopatra´s Needles” excursion covers part of the same ground traveled by that explorer in 1878. Once on this ride, you will be able to appreciate and feel part of the experiences of such a daring venture.

Photo-safari – Stone Leaves Trek

AM: Before the crack of dawn, you can head out with your personal guide on a photo-safari in which you will be amazed by the beautiful views that Torres del Paine offers. You can visit the main points of interest of the route that covers the national park, where you can enjoy both the local fauna and the imposing vistas of the different geological formations. The lodge’s experienced guides will help you spot magnificent birds and other wildlife so that you can capture – with your eyes and your camera – the species that this incredible park has to offer.

PM: Following lunch, you can set out on the Stone Leaves trek that involves visiting the fossilized remains of a forest in which you can observe and appreciate petrified leaves and tree trunks that date back more than 25 million years. This is an invitation to become a paleontologist for a day and recognize plants through their leaves, with all of this taking place in the midst of the mountainous landscape of Sierra Baguales in the “La Cumbre-Baguales Geological and Paleontological Park.”
