Finch Bay Hotel

Finch Bay is among the few Galapagos hotels with a beachfront. In fact, this fact puts it in a class by itself, as it’s the only hotel on Santa Cruz Island with a beach right outside its front door. Named after the abundant finches discovered in the area by Charles Darwin, the hotel is situated in a privileged location between mangroves. In addition to having the beach just steps away, guests can take pleasure in the hotel's attentive service, the privacy, the natural surroundings, and a swimming pool (where herons and wild ducks constantly visit for a plunge). Consequently, the charming retreat has been recognized as one of the most unique hotels in Galapagos due to its eco-friendly practices and its ability to immerse guests into the authentic Santa Cruz experience.

The eco-friendly lodge accommodates up to 54 guests with 6 suites and 21 rooms. Its layout and construction were carefully planned for a minimal impact on its site. As a matter of fact, you will see how the wildlife has integrated into the complex to the point where marine iguanas sun themselves right next to the main entrance. Indeed, we might say that the hotel is more than merely surrounded by nature – it's part of it.

At the Finch Bay Hotel, its 4-, 5-, and 8-day Galapagos tours (detailed here) offer engaging introductions to the islands. Through these, you can go on full-day cruises to nearby islands or head out on all-day land-based exploration excursions to places such as a Galapagos Giant tortoise reserve, the island’s lava tunnels, awe-inspiring geological formations, the Charles Darwin Research Station, or Tortuga Bay (sea turtles’ favorite place to lay their eggs). Alternatively, you might choose to simply relax and enjoy the hotel’s privacy, natural surroundings, swimming pool, fine dining and superb service.

For the parents, there’s a spa and a restaurant with a Cordon-Bleu chef who offers superb dining experience fusing international and Ecuadorian cuisine. Plus, the house mixologist will surprise you with exquisite cocktails perfect for sunset. Even details like the fine chocolates placed on your pillow will complement your journey.

The hotel is also close to points of interests, such as Las Grietas, where you can snorkel among tropical fishes, marine iguanas, and Galapagos sharks (don’t worry …they don’t bite). Finch Bay's “natural seclusion” guarantees privacy, in that it is surrounded by nature, with marine iguanas and birds that have no fear of humans.

With all these features, it is no surprise that Finch Bay Hotel's romantic setting has made it one of the best hotels in Galapagos for couples. Equally, this is a lodge for adventurers to relax, indulge and re-energize.

In short, the Finch Bay Hotel is the perfect haven for complementing your journey to this living laboratory of nature in a genuine and engaging way. Let’s talk! Ask us more about this hotel and see how it could fit in your customized journey to the “enchanted islands.”

“I found Surtrek online as it proved to be an excellent, efficient company. Our 4 days in the Galapagos were expertly planned and we were never left without a guide - we were even walked to dinner each night and assisted with ordering!”Marian Lowenfish
