Though built in the elegant style of a 1920s sailing vessel, yet possessing all the modern comforts for deluxe cruising through the Galapagos archipelago, the Evolution Motor Vessel is large enough to provide spacious staterooms, yet small and navigable enough for its guests to experience nature “up close and personal.”
A charming luxury-class expedition ship constructed in 2003 to accommodate only 32 guests in 16 elegantly designed suites and staterooms, the Evolution motor vessel offers excellent service and gives plenty attention to detail while making a minimal impact on the archipelago’s fragile environment.
The ship’s social spaces include a sunbathing area and a bar on the main desk, as well as an alfresco lounge on the bridge deck – perfect for enjoying a drink while whale watching or socializing with fellow passengers. In addition, the vessel provides a main salon for lectures, slide shows and films about the islands that are to be visited.
The Evolution Motor Vessel features a Jacuzzi (great for your enjoyment after snorkeling) with lounge chairs for sunbathing. In addition, the cruise provides sea kayaks, snorkeling gear and wetsuits for exploring the underwater world. There is also a boutique onboard for purchasing amenities and souvenirs, and a reception area where your cruise director can always be found.
For meals, guests have the choice of the inside dining room or an al fresco dining area on the upper deck. The fine cuisine served onboard is varied and of the highest standard, catering also to the needs of vegetarians and those with other special dietary requirements, with all passengers served buffet style.
In addition to its 18 crew members, two (2) naturalist guides and one (1) cruise director, the ship features an onboard doctor who staffs the fully equipped infirmary. The naturalist guides will lead you on daily land tours to discover the amazing geography, the legendary wildlife and the diverse plant life that abounds across the archipelago. The Evolution motor vessel also has special departures for more active groups of kayakers, snorkelers and others wanting to experience the “enchanted” Galapagos Islands.
For family cruises, the ship offers “Kids Club” activities such as stargazing and movie nights. The lounge also has a library with a wide range of books, movies and board games.
“I enjoyed the scenery and the exotic wildlife on the islands very much. The airport transfers in both directions went smoothly and the service on board was very good.”
